Buccaneers look to end Kilgore’s undefeated start to season

While Blinn College fans get an opportunity to meet the Houston Texans Cheerleaders, the Buccaneers will get an opportunity to shake up the conference standings when they host the Kilgore Rangers at 7 p.m. Saturday at Cub Stadium.

The Buccaneers host an undefeated Kilgore team that is 5-0 on the season, 3-0 in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference and ranked seventh in the nation by the NJCAA. The Rangers are coming off a 29-14 victory over Cisco College on Saturday.

Blinn (2-2, 1-1 SWJCFC) enters the contest well-rested after a bye week. Freshman quarterback Garry Kimble ranks third in the league in passing with 931 passing yards and 10 touchdowns on 68-of-102 passing. The dual-threat signal caller has also been a threat on the ground, running for 375 yards and four more touchdowns on 48 carries.

The Rangers are led by a pair of quarterbacks. Tanner Tausch has completed 55 of 98 passes this season for nine touchdowns and five interceptions, while Emory Miller has completed 21 of 31 passes for 178 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Six Houston Texans Cheerleaders will be at the game to pose for photos and sign autographs from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Game admission is $5, and children 12 and under get in free. Blinn students and employees get in free with their College IDs. The Texans' 2012 cheerleader calendar will be available for sale.

One of the cheerleaders, Stephanie, is a Blinn College alumna and a former Blinn Treasures dancer. Now in her second year with the Texans, Stephanie danced at Blinn from 2009-11. Blinn's dance squad also has former members currently performing with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Dynamo cheer teams, and boasts a former Houston Rockets dancer among its alumni.
