Blinn impresses offensively in victory over Houston Community College, 93-59

BRENHAM, Texas – Blinn College men's basketball is progressing offensively with each game and it showed on Tuesday night with a 93-59 victory over Houston Community College inside the P.E. Building.

"I thought our guys competed, played hard and ran the offense," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.

The 93 points is the most scored in the three-game season and improves the Buccaneers to 3-0. The victory for head coach Scott Schumacher is No. 500 in his career.

"Honestly I sit there and think of all the guys that I coached and being a part of their lives and all the assistant coaches that I have had and all the places that I have been able to coach at in my career," Schumacher said, about reaching his 500th victory.

Antione Lister scored 12 of his 17 points in the first half to lead Blinn in the victory. James Harrison scored all but two of his 15 points in the first half. Juwan Green scored 12 points, Curtlon Wesley and Kobe Wrice finished with 11 points while LaKendric Hyson capped the double-figures scoring with 10 points.

"Coach Schumacher has been preaching every day to throw the ball into the post and it will open up the offense for everyone else," Lister said. "Every game we have been getting better and we are happy that coach Schumacher is back now."

Blinn went after the lead early after clinging to a 10-5 lead, the Buccaneers went on a 13-2 run to claim a 23-7 lead. Harrison was having his way in the low post and scored 13 points in the first half while Lister added 12 points by attacking the rim. Blinn maintained control in the first half and led 44-25 at the half.

The Buccaneers kept that momentum going and used to a 10-2 run to take a 65-38 lead with 10:35 left after a jumper made by Hyson. Wrice scored all of his 11 points in the second half while Green added 10 points by cutting hard to the basket. With the offense working well, Blinn was able to cruise to the 34-point victory.
