BRENHAM, Texas - Blinn College men;s basketball had to shake off a little rust from the holiday break, but came back to defeat the Houston Gladiators, 71-69, Tuesday night in the Kruse Center.
"We had to shake off the rust from the Christmas break, but we were lucky enough to hit a shot to win the game," said Scott Schumacher, Blinn head coach.
The Buccaneers trailed 36-29 at the half, before rallying in the second half for the win.
Trailing 69-68 in the final seconds of the game, Blinn's sophomore Gianni Ford passed off the ball to Houston in the corner for him to shoot a three-pointer to put Blinn ahead 71-69 for the victory.
With the win, Blinn improves to 9-3 overall and stays 1-2 in Region XIV play.
Blinn will resume conference play on Friday, Jan. 5 against Kilgore College at 7 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
