Big offense lifts Buccaneers to sweep over Kilgore, 13-1 and 2-0

KILGORE, Texas — The Blinn College softball team (7-7) used an explosive offense and strong pitching performances to sweep Kilgore College Friday.

The Buccaneers totaled 21 hits for 15 runs in the doubleheader against the Rangers. Blinn run-ruled Kilgore in five innings, 13-1, in the first game, and defeated the Rangers, 2-0, in the second game for the sweep.

"We came out and had a lot of offense in the first game, so it was good to see the offense get going again, and Nevada Dolnik did a good job for us pitching," said Rick Church, Blinn head coach. "In the second game, it was scoreless until the top of the seventh when we got some runners on base and put pressure on their defense to score two runs. Renna Toomey got stronger with every inning and did a good job finishing that game for us on the mound, so it was nice to get those two wins today."
