Blinn women’s basketball duo signs with four-year programs

Audrisa Harrison and Khalisha Lee helped the Blinn College women's basketball team achieve the best season in the program's history last year. Now the two sophomores are embarking on their next journey.

Harrison, an NJCAA All-American, joined the Texas Tech University Lady Raiders basketball team while Lee signed with Angelo State University.

Coming off a season of rehabbing a torn ACL, Harrison was one of the most dominant players in the country as she helped the Buccaneers reach their second NJCAA national tournament in the program's 35 years. A redshirt sophomore out of Coldspring High School, a Class 3A program, Harrison was named a first-team All-American after a season in which she averaged 15.3 points per game and 10.8 assists.

"In three years I never thought she would end up a Big 12 signee," head coach Jeff Jenkins said. "We never thought she would have been a first-team All-American. She got the most out of her ability."

Harrison tore her ACL in the final days of her freshman year and was forced to sit out the 2011-12 season. She used that time to work with assistant coach Alexis Green to improve her game, resulting in five more points and four more rebounds per game over her freshman season.

"She worked that year and got better mentally and physically," Jenkins said. "And she became a better perimeter player that offseason."

Harrison totaled 879 career points and 596 rebounds, both of which put her third on the Buccaneers' all-time list for each category. Harrison pulled down 387 rebounds her sophomore season.

"She's one of the best rebounders I've ever seen," Jenkins said.

Lee spent two seasons with the Bucs before transferring to Angelo State. She played in 37 games over that period.

"She's very athletic – she's so fast, and she can jump," Jenkins said. "I'm very happy she signed with Angelo State. She should get a lot more playing time there."

Harrison and Lee were the third and fourth women's basketball players to sign off the 2012-13 team. Jazzmin Parker signed with Texas Southern University and Aarika Reyna signed with Southern Arkansas University.

Blinn finished last season ranked No. 8 in the nation after a 32-4 campaign, which included a trip to the NJCAA national tournament and a trip to the Elite 8.
