PLANO, Texas — The Blinn College women's basketball team (12-3, 1-2) downed Collin County Community College, 72-64, on Thursday night.
"We had a lot of adversity with foul trouble tonight and made defensive and offensive plays in the last five minutes to come away with a good road win," said Jeff Jenkins, Blinn head coach. "Jessica Soders was exceptional with three defensive charges."
The Buccaneers opened the first quarter with a 23-21 lead, but Collin County outscored Blinn in the second quarter to hold a one-point (36-35) advantage at the half.
Blinn took back a 50-47 lead in the third quarter, and in the fourth quarter, the Buccaneers outscored Collin County 22-17 for the win.
Next, the Buccaneers will resume conference play against Coastal Bend College on Wednesday, January 8, at 5:30 p.m. on the road.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 41 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
