ATHENS, Texas – The 14th-ranked Blinn College volleyball team is as hot as it's been all season – just in time for the No. 1-ranked team in the nation.
Blinn defeated Trinity Valley Community College 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 here Friday just four nights before their Region XIV Conference rematch against No. 1 San Jacinto College. The Buccaneers have now won their last five matches, including four via sweeps.
"We wanted to get our blocking game going a little bit more and I think that got better," Blinn (15-4, 4-1) coach Erin Mellinger said. "That's one area we've been harping on in practice and we did a good job tonight."
Sophomore libero Cara Fisher led the defense with 12 digs.
The Buccaneers travel to Pasadena Tuesday for their 6 p.m. match against San Jacinto. The Lady Ravens handed the Bucs their only Region XIV Conference loss 3-1 on Sept. 11. Since that loss, the Buccaneers have dropped just one of the 16 sets they have played.
