BAYTOWN, Texas – Blinn College volleyball got off to a rough start and only scored 13 points in its opening set and couldn't recover in a 3-0 loss to No. 15 Wharton County Junior College in the consolation bracket of the Region XIV tournament.
Wharton won by the score 25-13, 25-19 and 25-18 to eliminate Blinn from the postseason. The Buccaneers end the year with an 18-22 overall record.
Paola Marie Salas Adorno led Blinn with 11 kills and added 12 digs. Alexis Kingston finished with nine kills and 10 digs. Danusia Sipa Borgeaud earned 21 digs while Ally Lanik finished with 25 assists.
Blinn had a hard time getting the offense going as it hit for a .064 hitting percentage with 27 hitting errors and eight service errors. Wharton took the first set and only allowed 13 points to Blinn. The second set was better for the Buccaneers in scoring 19 points but Wharton took control of the match with a 2-0 lead in sets.
Wharton closed out the third set 25-18 to end Blinn's season.
